Rules of the Road is a wonderful tool for novice drivers. Seven instruction sections cover driving basics, city and residential driving, highway driving, the driver exam, safety tips, hazardous conditions, and drug and alcohol awareness. Each segment is comprehensive and readily understandable. An appropriately diverse group of young actors and actresses present driving instruction in a good-humored, informative manner. Examples of the wrong things to do as well as the correct things are provided. There is, of course, the buffoonish, know-it-all father whose driving is not what is should be and whose instruction is suspect. The slick kid who knows everything is shown taking his driver’s test, revealing that he needs much more practice. Additional features on the DVD include a section on basic auto maintenance and road signs. The State-to-State Driving Requirements index makes the DVD extremely useful. The use of 3-D illustrations helps to ensure that student drivers understand the concept being taught. The virtual driver puts viewers in the driver seat and checks their awareness as a driver. Corporal John Parish of the Missouri Highway Patrol provides commentary and advice about a variety of driving topics. This is bound to be extremely popular with the just-about-to-drive set. The program is accessible, informative, well-organized, and entertaining, and eminently suitable for both school and public libraries.

Most people are wondering what “Du Bist deutschland” is about .It is a feel good PR campaign running in Germany. This was a feel good compaign meaning ,”you are germany” which started its mission of trying to increase optimism into people who were not so happy because of unemployment and weak economic growth of the country.
Apparently,it is a top entry in some search engines.
Du bist Deutschland is a message to every german that every one of them has a responsibility for the well-being and future of Germany.
Several people from Germany have indicated that the “Du bist Deutschland” campaign is not government created, but sponsored privately. Moreover, an outcry about the campaign in the German blogosphere is generating scornful responses from the German mainstream media, which are said to have a stake in the advertising campaign itself.
After looking at the official website of the campaign “Du bist deutschland” and the tv advertisemet ( which can be found on the web) , The advertisement sends a message to all people to move ahead and do something which is everything one can do for their own country. This campaign has hit the german blogosphere and everyone seems to discuss about it since last november.

Recently, I saw the movie Hostel – Part II [Blu-ray]
and was appalled by the violence in the movie. This movie is about the “dark side” of the human psyche and we see how one would get pleasure by tortuting or killing others.
According to this movie, the wealthy can get anything and some neurotics are interested in buying the priveleged or the wealthy for a high price and use them for something which you wouldn’t expect: for torture and killing.
The plot of the movie seems to based on real events and the dialogues can be real.
Hostel follows young Americans Paxton (Jay Hernandez), Josh (Derek Richardson), and Icelander Oli (Eythor Gudjonsson) as they embark upon a backpacking trip through various European countries.
The girls are really part of an elaborate (or plausibly elaborate) business called Elite Hunting” designed to seduce young tourists into partaking in certain activities which lead to them getting drugged up, unconscious, and relocated to a desolate, abandoned warehouse where they are chained to a chair and tortured to death by clientele. These people are really sick.
There is a significant amount of violence, nudity and visuals which are disgusting .You can also see the extent of corruption which has penetrated into our society. The writer probably wanted to create tension or fear with the visuals but it had the opposite effect. I was bored with the violence rather than thrilled. There is no thrill in this movie..and the plot is bland even though it seems realistic. Some scenes dont have any meaning such as a bunch of children beating up adults who come in their way and not comply with demands of cigarettes or chocoloates etc. Also, there is no explanation why the slovakian policemen are stopping cars and beating up drivers on the freeway.

“Often times people call animation a genre, and that is completely wrong. It is a medium that expresses any genre,” said Brad Bird, director of “The Incredibles.” Well, in the genre of animated action feature, Bird certainly hit the mark with this Oscar-winning film. “The Incredibles” is another powerhouse from Pixar Studios, the creator of “Toy Story,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Monsters, Inc.” and “Finding Nemo.”
This action-packed comedy is an absolute scream. The story is based on the lives of superheroes trying to lead normal lives after being banished and forced into hiding. These supers have been living among us and they have been trying to fit in but it is not all that easy for the former Mr. Incredible, who insists on trying to relive the glory days. But when his chance to bounce back into his old habits appears, Mr. Incredible can’t turn away. Set out on a mission to help a scientist, Mr. Incredible ends up with a new enemy and a new villain. But what about the family? Well as every great family is, they are right behind him, fighting alongside him every step of the way Ч even if they are battling sibling rivalry and adolescent social issues.
The Incredibles is a great, fun-loving movie; and it is a treat to share with family, friends or even to keep all to yourself. Pixar’s previous animated features were rated G, but guess what? This one carries a PG because the violence is much more vivid.

Everyone we know had nice things to say about “Ocean’s Eleven.” We had high expectations for the DVD release of the sequel, “Ocean’s Twelve,” but were disappointed by the movie.
Three years after stealing $150 million from casino owner Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), the “Ocean’s Eleven” crew are doing their own thing with their stolen money. Benedict tracks them down and tells them that they have to pay him back with interest or he will kill them.
The gang joins forces again and heads to Europe since they are too hot to work in America. They first plan to steal a historical document but are stopped by police detective Isabel Lahiri (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and also by a master thief Francois Toulour (Vincent Cassel).
Strange that a movie about stealing did not have a lot of stealing in it. Instead, “Ocean’s Twelve” relies on plot twists to make the movie interesting. The acting in the movie is top-notch and they do have some big names (George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts and Matt Damon). But even big names and the acting cannot save the movie. There are too many characters to keep track of and you don’t feel like you know enough about them. We can’t shake the feeling that the sequel was just an excuse for these stars to hang out in Europe.
The movie has a lot of pointless freeze frames, wipes and some weird camera angles. It is shot in a lot of beautiful European locations but you will not be able to recognize them because of the camera angles.
Do not rent Ocean’s Twelve. At the end of the movie you will think that the whole movie was pointless, and you will feel just robbed.

I found it quite interesting that so many of the leaders in game design feel the same way about things.
I am surprised [by] the complaint of standardizing PC hardware. I wasn’t aware of a massive problem in this area. Granted, I have noticed compatibility complaints before, but nothing on a large enough scale that would generate a complaint from game designers. I didn’t know such a problem existed: I assumed that the hardware was standard enough across all manufacturers that such a problem would rarely be found, and if il were, it would be the fault of the manufacturer’s drivers and not the game designer.
I’m also surprised [by] the complaint about the price of games. Graphic design elements being more complex I can understand, but the complaint about the budgets surprised me. I thought It was the developers who were pushing for the bigger budgets.
The proposed method of fixing the budget problem was disappointing to me. Like the developers, I too notice very few games that are in the “in-between” market, where they are neither big-budget nor nearly free. The thing is, I don’t want games to sacrifice graphics for gameplay; rather, I want the gameplay to match the graphics quality. It s frustrating for me to see “pretty” games pass me by because I’m forced to play dated-looking games to get a good story I fear that perhaps by limiting graphics quality to allow more focus on gameplay, the developers wdl be killing that which they are trying to save, just with a different method. Granted, a good story does a lot more for me than pretty graphics, but I don’t think anyone can honestly state that graphics aren’t important to a game these days

Apple is sued over potention hearling loss. Apple hasnt indicated any warnings about potential hearing loss with their ipod players. Cnn writes that the devices can produce sounds of more than 115 decibels, a volume that can damage the hearing of a person exposed to the sound for more than 28 seconds per day, according to the complaint.
The iPod players are “inherently defective in design and are not sufficiently adorned with adequate warnings regarding the likelihood of hearing loss,” according to the complaint, filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in San Jose, Calif., on behalf of John Kiel Patterson of Louisiana
The suit, which Patterson wants certified as a class-action, seeks compensation for unspecified damages and upgrades that will make iPods safer. Patterson’s suit said he bought an iPod last year, but does not specify whether he suffered hearing loss from the device.
Patterson does not know if the device has damaged his hearing, said his attorney, Steve W. Berman, of Seattle. But that’s beside the point of the lawsuit, which takes issue with the potential the iPod has to cause irreparable hearing loss, Berman said.
An Apple Computer Inc. spokeswoman, Kristin Huguet, declined to comment.
Apple was forced to pull the iPod from store shelves in France and upgrade software on the device to limit sound to 100 decibels, but has not followed suit in the United States, according to the complaint. The headphones commonly referred to as ear buds, which ship with the iPod, also contribute to noise-induced hearing loss because they do not dilute the sound entering the ear and are closer to the ear canal than other sound sources, the complaint states.
Were you aware that there is a risk of hearing loss when purchasing your Ipod ?

It is interesting.. that we have this question of human cloning again.. with the recent turn of events..
George W. Bush said this:
“A hopeful society has institutions of science and medicine that do not cut ethical corners, and that recognize the matchless value of every life. Tonight I ask you to pass legislation to prohibit the most egregious abuses of medical research human cloning in all its forms creating or implanting embryos for experiments creating human-animal hybrids and buying, selling, or patenting human embryos. Human life is a gift from our Creator” and that gift should never be discarded, devalued, or put up for sale.”
Probably, we won’t be able to see a werewolf in the near future !
What do you think of human animal hybrid research ?

Startrek is one of the best scifi series which is widely watched by the scientific community. Most of the people I know who are in the top most positions in science and engineering are veteran star trek fans. It wasn’t a surprise to me either as people who can understand the stories and episodes are above average and this is one of the content they are interested in. Science Professors, engineers, computing geeks, physicists, Techies constitute the majority of audience startrek has. I see startrek more like an inspiration for science rather than a fantasy tv series which is unreal.
Startrek has introduced us a wide range of devices such as a PDA and a motion detection sensor. IF you have ever watched Futurama, you can see imitations of startrek in the scifi animated series which are interesting.
The latest series of startrek aka the “Enterprise” has been a fiasco with dwindling audience as the series progressed. The first two seasons were bland and the third season was kinda interesting because of futuristic content such as “Time travel” and battles in space. Many people were disappointed with the lackluster performance of startrek enterprise which is the least popular series of startrek ever. There are sites and conventions with the goal of reviving startrek enterprise such as Saveenterprise. Let’s hope that we would see more of startrek in the years to come.
